Ashlee has a diverse background in nursing, nutrition, and bodybuilding, all of which have influenced the wellness programs she develops for Whole Intent clients.
While preparing to compete in many fitness and bodybuilding competitions, Ashlee became intimately aware of the effect such restrictive dieting was having on her, both physically and mentally. At the same time, Ashlee was working as a nurse in adult rehabilitation.
As a nurse for many years, Ashlee has treated patients with chronic diseases day in and day out. She has extensive experience working at many private nursing practices across Colorado, including Maxim Healthcare Services and Dungarvin Colorado. With over 15 years of qualified nursing experience, Ashlee has become adept at understanding the human body, identifying gaps or issues affecting one's health, and how to approach healthcare through a holistic lens.
Ashlee strives to evaluate the problems both she and her clients experience, including symptoms like chronic fatigue, irritability, and depression, based on Maslow's Hierarchy of Human Needs. The pyramid of fundamental needs cannot be built without a solid foundation. The first level of human needs is food and water. Without the proper nutrition, you are unable to continue to build your pyramid and achieve higher levels of human needs, such as security or belonging. It was this understanding that inspired Ashlee to go back to school to study nutrition and dietetics so she could become a health and wellness coach.
She gained a detailed understanding of how the body works and the fuel it needs to operate at its best. Pairing this knowledge with her extensive nursing expertise and background in bodybuilding, Whole Intent was born.
